rah rah sis boom bah

so my lecture was pretty good. we ran out of stuff to say because
apparently when you're speaking in front of other people you do so more
quickly than when you're speaking to yourself. or in front of your
boyfriend who is falling asleep because he obviously has no interest in
how children learn words. even though i think it's pretty awesome.

i have a new research assistant and i'm working on two projects that are
going pretty well. so school is actually pretty good.

i'm getting really good at things like leading discussion sections. well
not *really* good but i don't just sit there giggling anymore.

the cathy santonies had a show last night. it was okay but kinda crappy i
thought. they kept telling us to turn it down. and then some metal band
came on and didn't turn it down. they were pretty big jerks. they told my
friend to eff off. that's so hardcore and metal! whoa!! *devil horns*

mike's brother described us as "a wall of sound with little sparks of
attitude shooting off". i don't know about all that, but that was my goal.
so if that's what we presented, i'm quite proud.

then i was supposed to go see my sister in a play but she called me and
said i didn't have to because apparently she's not in it for very long and
they're going to videotape it. break a leg, sister! break em both!

then we had this salsa party thingy last night. i was in charge of
publicity for it so i was afraid that no one would come. but lots of
people did come and we raised a few thousand dollars for a good cause. so
i'm happy about that. people were having a really fun time too. so yeah
that was cool.

today i have to grade a bunch of papers and rewrite something for
submission to a scientific somethingorother and eat a lot and not stop
wearing pajamas all day.

hey if you were ever like a pretty big runaways/joan jett fan and then you
thought well crap i'll get "edgeplay: a film about the runaways" from
netflix well you know what you might want to rethink that because that
movieis beyond crap. just save yourself the time and frustration and go
ahead and take a nap.

i have had a weird cold all week. with all cold symptoms except that I
feel fine. I knew it was getting worse and worse and now it's over.

yeah i know that's not going to happen.

anyway also i submitted some research to a conference and they accepted
it. so i have to give a talk. it's in vancouver. it rhymes with lognitive
lcience lociety. i totally thought it would get rejected and now i kind of
wish it had because going to vancouver is really expensive. eek

has anyone seen this commercial where a puppy runs around singing "there
ain't no bugs on me"? it's pretty much the cutest thing i have ever seen
in my life. like ever.
