continue looking here for words. but for photos/words, i have set up a buzznet account, as per melissa's instruction. it is located at photoraedy dot buzznet dot com. yeah i'll put an appropriate link up here in a minute. if there aren't any photos when you look at it then wait a bit and then look again later. i'm going to be putting some up throughout the day. i'm still at work for another few hours, so posting to my photo blog is not really appropriate. adios.

well i haven't updated for a while. i'm going to drive myself crazy if i don't get some photos up on my photoblog soon. actually i'm thinking about changing and using something else, something easier, like a photo album online or something, that doesn't require as much work. cause this is a pain in the butt. well i'm at work. so yeah. cough.
i wanna get one of those memory stick things. and i'm especially interested in the one that's attached to a swiss army knife. talk about dorky. sheesh.
i went home last week it was really relaxing. my sister and i painted her room, we did a pretty good job. it's blue and gray. wowwwzers. i wish my sister would stop starting blogs and then not updating them. it makes me want to smack her.
so mike and i are going back to indiana this weekend, after we look at an apartment on saturday morning. we're going to see joan jett (with my sister and some of my friends from columbus) sunday. it's free. well i don't really have anything interesting to say. read my snappy comments on melissa's blog. just to clarify, i wasn't pissed. she didn't piss me off. the article she linked to pissed me off. the end.

el presidente esta aqui!
yeah so i just saw the president of mexico out of the window. you might think i'm insane but i'm actually serious. he is, for god knows what reason, visiting here. and there was a mariachi band waiting across the street all day. then the motorcade started coming and they started playing. and a van stopped and all these guys got out including the president of mexico. he is in chicago, this makes sense, he wants to promote the wellbeing of mexicans who are living here. but why he is at this university i don't really know. anyways i tried to go outside and i got, of course, instantly reprimanded by this guy who told me to "go inside" but there was an old lady out there smoking so i don't understand why she got to be outside and i didn't. oh well. it's just the outside of the place i WORK and GO TO SCHOOL. why should i be allowed to go out the door that i go out at least once a day? bullshit. anyways whatever. i was just going to gawk anyways. so i guess i'll just get back to work. sheesh.

want a puppie, gotta get a bunnie
mike and i went to the animal shelter today thinking about getting a puppie. and there were some real cute puppies there. including a really sweet dog named dusty who was totally shy and mike and i love her and we wanna get her. we have an appointment to see an apartment on thursday, hopefully it will be great and we can get it. here is my dream plan:
tomorrow: mike has interview, gets job.
thursday: we see apartment, love it, pets are okay, everything is perfect, put in application/sign lease
friday: go to bloomington
Sunday/monday: go to parent's house
saturday: return to chicago (it is our 2 year anniversary...can you believe that, ex-roommates? the date is sort of randomly picked as the first time that mike visited and stayed with us. but yeah because before he came i cleaned my room and changed this little calendar i had to the 25th, and then it stayed that way until i moved out, so that's how we picked the date so whatever.)
sunday through rest of summer: run all of the subjects i need for my experiment (48 kids), write up my honors thesis for publication, get it published easily and without any problems (haha, that's not gonna happen), create a zine by the end of july, see joan jett on july 4, (with foghat?!), see le tigre on july 29 (at lollapalooza?!), whatever, move in to a kick ass apartment on aug 1 and get a puppie soon thereafter.
we also went to a really big and cool thriftstore where i got a "miller highlife" hat that is camouflage, two records, a really old book, three shirts, all for five bux. we saw *the* (second) cutest bunnie at the animal shetler, her name was "honey bun" awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
she hopped right up on to our laps and sat there and she lovvveeeeddddd mike. but he didn't wanna get her because she was too hairy (i call bullshit on that!). then we had to go to walgreens and get new shampoo for mike because his old shampoo "burned his scalp". oh well. there was my daily update. see you soon, family, and bloomingtonites!

nothing new to report...
there is really nothing new to report. except i want a puppie. mike and i want a puppie. we are going to get a puppie if it is the last thing we ever do. i'm going to keep writing puppie like this until we get one, then i'll spell it right again. the thing is, the dog cannot be larger than the rabbit or there might be problems. snickers is now a big girl and can stay out of her cage home all alone when mike and i are not there. i'm pretty proud of her. i'm at the lab, even though i definitely don't need to/have to be. i think i'm going to go home now so i can chill out. maybe mike and i can go to bennnnigans. i'm not sure why we love that place so much. we can both eat for real cheap and play trivia and drink soda. yum. okay outie.

well the world don't move to the beat of just one drum
that's true, too true.
i finished my first year of grad school!! now, don't everyone start calling to congratulate me all at once, it's overwhelming. no but really, i'm real happy about it. i cried when i finished my last final, it was really so relieving. yeah. then i went out with my grad school friends, almost all of the first year grad students, which is an unbelievable turnout for these people. we are all so busy, this place is really hectic. etc.
yeah
so
i'm not sure if i'm any less stressed out now than i was then. okay i guess i am, but a lot is going on right now, changes, etc. and so yeah its pretty stressful. but i wont' air my dirty laundry. instead i'll tell a joke.
john kerry walks into a bar. the bartender says, hey why the long face?
haha get it....sigh.
yeah so.
i'm going to be making my tour of southern indiana starting next weekend. there is a music festival going on in bloomington so i'm going to be there from friday to monday. then i'm coming home, family. so get ready! i'm going to stay for a few days. i have to be back here probably within a week or so because i have to start getting subjects for my experiment. i have to run 48 5 year olds by the end of the summer, which, really, is not that bad. but i have to go all over the city trying to find them. and i have to write my honors thesis up for real. that is my first goal this summer, then the new experiment, and finally, getting all of the papers i have onto end note. which shouldn't be too bad. oh yeah and work 25 hours a week. that's no biggie though.
mike got a job interview for this week so let's wish him luck. as a "freelance web designer" it looks like he might also have a job designing a website freelancely. so let's hope he gets that too.
1 2 3 4 go mike!

for the most part, blogs are born to die
well, i had some complaints from my family that my blog was, can you believe it, boring? because apparently i never update or something. i don't know what you all are talking about. okay i guess i do. this is better than my photoblog, huh, which is on its 4th months anniversary of not being updated. i am eating a spinach salad and drinking some tea. yummm.
boring, i know.
uhm, let's think of something exciting. mike and i went to his nephew's 8thgrade graduation on friday. then on saturday we went to my cousin's graduation in indiana. then we went to her party, where i gave my parents their anniversary present, which is that they're going to las vegas and they are going to stay at circus circus. how, you might ask, could a grad student afford to send someone else on vacation? well, my family members helped me pay for most of it. so it's from everyone, not just me. so yeah. happy anniversary to my parents, huh? actually it's not until later this month...but whatev.
i got something funny out of the onion, you guys might enjoy it:
The Statue of Liberty is set to reopen in July, following the completion of structural and security improvemens. What changes have been made so far?
*Color of flame in torch will correspond with terror-alert level; statue's name changed to "The Statue of Security".
* Head no longer held on with quarter-mile of duct tape.
* Second security guard put on duty in case the first one falls asleep.
* Longtime Liberty Island resident and radical Islamic cleric Muqtada al-Sadr deported.
* Exterior and interior of structure meticulously de-Frenched.
*Lady Liberty now able to pump arm in air when extra patriotism needed.
*Statue's eyes outfietted with high-tech security cameras that monitor tourists' every move.
*"Don't" inscribed before "Bring us your..." on plaque at statue's base.
and that's it. i'm still in class this week and then next week is finals and then it's all over. i will have survived my first year of grad school. don't start congratulating me quite yet though. i've still got ten days to go. sigh.
mike and i have been enjoying chinatown lately. it's really cool. we wanna move there.
so there was this book reviewed in the last issue of cosmo, called "til death do us part" about bridesmaids who keep getting murdered and it was written by the editor of cosmo (way to plug yr own book, kate) and i actually read the magazine excerpt, i usually skip right past that part, because i don't read cosmo for the literature, cmon, but this time i read it and then i got trashily sucked in to the book so i went to borders yesterday and started reading it. i'm on page 75 approx. i'm going to keep going back to borders and reading it until i'm finished with it. so melissa has posted her summer reading list, i'm starting one too:
ahem:
til death do us part, kate white.
the new prophecy book by sylvia browne.
a tree grows in brooklyn.
malcolm x autobiography.
outrageous acts and everyday rebellions, steinem
moving beyond words, steinem
marilyn, steinem
jane eyre (because i never went through that girl stage)
anna karenina (because it's on oprah's book club??)
the brothers karamazov (because i have it and i should read it)
you know, maybe first i should go through the books i have and have never read....i have this habit of buying books at garage sales, etc., and i don't always read them. i have read most of them, don't get me wrong. but not all. maybe i should. ah, i don't know. i'll just do whatever.
i'm also going to put all the references i have on endnote. you should get it liz, if you don't already have it. it wil be your own personal database of papers and it even will create bibliographies for you, etc. you need it. now now go go. haahh......not really but i heard it makes life much easier.
this week i spilled water in my laptop, and it died temporarily. but it must have sensed that it was still needed here on earth (maybe when i was bawling uncontrollably) and decided to walk away from the light and back into my loving arms. i will never drink water again. i may die.
luckily that whole mess fixed itself or i would have been really distraught in these last two weeks of school...well i gotta go to class now. is everyone happy with that update? good.
