bush wants to appoint "al gonzales" as attorney general. i know it might sound cool, since he's hispanic and we're all for diversity (woo!) but read a bit about him:
"Gonzales has been at the forefront of developing White House policy about detaining terror suspects for extended periods without access to lawyers or courts. He wrote the February 2002 memo that allowed Bush to claim the right to waive international treaties and anti-torture rules when it comes to prisoners of war who do not serve other countries. Human rights groups criticized the memo, which they said gave way for abuses like that in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal."

basically, i just wanna say a great big F. U. to gb for appointing a racially diverse yet ideologically stiflingly narrow group of people to his cabinet. so that instead of saying, hey, al gonzales is a dick, look at all this stupid shit he's done, everyone is saying Hoooooorrraaayyyyyyy for hispanics!!!!! al gonzales will be the first hispanic to be appointed as attorney general. same thing with condi. I don't feel like the women's struggle is benefiting one doggone bit from her appointments. wow she is the first black woman to blahblah, i dont care. she's still just a mouthpiece from the conservative right.
you know i'm sick of rich old white men running this country. and i'm getting sick of them appointing asians, hispanics, women, blacks, etc., to do their bidding.
it's much harder for us to criticize a hispanic attorney general (no one wants to look racist) than it is to criticize ashcroft.
