emma goldman
emma goldman was a really important figure in the anarchist movement in the first half of the twentieth century. this is cool because most anarchists were/still are men. now, you might be saying, anarchism, raedy?! what?! what are you anti-government, you commie bastard? pinky? what?
i think anyone who knows me well or has discussed politics with me at any time or has hung out with me or attended a film with me or maybe eaten an ice cream cone with me knows that the answer to all of those questions is yes. i am anti-government. if you haven't figured that out by now, you haven't been reading my blog very closely.
i don't have time to get into the definition of anarchism or what it means to me or why i may or may not be an anarchist (i'm not really but i do have anarchist leanings...or do i? i'm an enigma.) but let me tell you the definition as found in wikipedia:
"Anarchism is a generic term describing various political philosophies and social movements that advocate the elimination of all forms of imposed authority, including social hierarchy and coercive power. In place of hierarchy, these movements favor relations based upon voluntary cooperation and mutual aid, leading to a society characterised by the ability of each actor to have a say in outcomes proportionate to the degree they are affected by them. These philosophies use anarchy to mean a society based on voluntary cooperation of free individuals. Philosophical anarchist thought does not advocate chaos or anomie — it refers to "anarchy" as a manner of human relations that is intentionally established and maintained."
i think that basically sums it up. i am not for anyone controlling anyone else, especially me. i don't like to control and i don't like to be controlled. i am bossy, yes, but you don't have to do what i say. (mike might disagree). i'm not violent and i'm not crazy. i don't want anyone to hurt anyone else. i'm not advocating mob rule here. i just don't like the way our society is arranged and how that is reflected in and supported by our government.
but, raedy, you say, our government is the best in the world! u! s! a! u! s! a!. well i sayyyyy
whatever.
our government is far more corrupt than we will ever know. yes i'm into conspiracy theories. yes i'm a little "loopy". but i have my reasons. if anyone has any questions or comments, well that's why i have a comment section.
we're taught in school that anarchy means chaos. if there were no government, why, we wouldn't be able to control ourselves! we need a government to make decisions for us and make laws for us to follow because we don't know how to treat each other unless someone is telling us how. now do you really think that if there were no laws and no government, i would just come over and steal all your shit? would you steal mine? maybe i am too trusting of human nature, but i would like to say no. if you would steal my shit, we are no longer friends.
i know this is a controversial statement but well it's easy to make controversial statements while sitting alone in my office. so i will. and i think you can all make your own controversial statements in the comment section. so let's have a controversial statement contest in the comment section (but remember this is a *family* blog that my *little sister* reads so let's keep it unperverted) thank you.
and click on emma goldman so you can read more about her. my main interest in her is that even "alternative" societies of "free thinkers" are still dominated by men! and that's what makes her unusual, interesting, and worth knowing about.
