katrina

god nothing else has been on my mind for the last few days. i've been
religiously checking every news information source that i can. i can't
believe the mass devastation, i know everything i say and think sounds so trite now.
so like not important at all.
people are dead, so many people, and they're still dying. why is it taking
so long to, i dunno, remove people who are sleeping on a highway? if the
national guard has time to drive john roberts of 48 hours around so he can
check out the poor black people "looting" food, why can't they just grab
those people up and get them the hell out? faster? i'm disgusted.
i mean no disrespect to those people who really are risking their lives to
save people and trying to keep order but i can't help but think that poor
people are being ignored. again. maybe i'm just way too cynical.
then mike and i are treated to this lovely news story on almost every
station in chicago yesterday: rich couple from northern burbs take their
daughter to college at tulane. hurricane is coming. rich couple hire limo
driver to drive them all the way back to chicago for four thousand
dollars. sweet crap, are you kidding me?
i guess there was "no other way" for them to get out, so it's
understandable. but WHY is this news? i am so sick of the american media
machine right now that it's unbelievable. it really makes me want to puke.
a lot of people and organizations are really pitching in and helping but
people are starving and dying and drowning and shooting each other and
killing themselves.

i wish there was some way i could blame this on bush.

oh yeah and i don't give a fuck about gas prices right now. at all. so
stop telling me about them, fox news.

i have this sick throw up feeling in my throat that won't go away and i
can't cry. sorry about my most depressing blog post ever.
